But Is It Really Free?

We hear this question a lot on our live chat and in conversations we have. The short answer is yes, it really is free. And that might leave you wondering, what do I actually get for free? A few things…

Our live chat

It’s completely free and comes with unlimited usage. That means you can come on the chat Monday – Friday from 10:00am – 8:00pm and Saturday and Sunday from 2:00pm – 10:00pm (EST) and chat with our clinical staff.

You can come one time and one time only. You can come once a week. You can come once a month. It’s basically an as-needed kind of thing. You will never be charged for chatting.

Think of it like this: If you’re cold, you put on a sweatshirt; you’re hungry, you eat; you’re stressed out, come on the chat; struggling with a decision, come on the chat; feeling some type of way and not sure why or how to deal, come on the chat.

Are you on a waiting list to see a therapist somewhere else? You can use the chat in the meantime to get support until you are able to start seeing your new therapist.

Therapy

We do not need to bill insurance to provide therapy. That means you can see one of our therapists at no cost. Therapy requires a certain level of commitment: usually an hour-long session every week or every other week. Young people who have been dealing with ongoing feelings of depression, anxiety, lack of motivation, etc. may benefit from therapy. Not sure? Come on the chat and tell us what’s going on. We can help you figure out how to get the support you need.

Peer Mentoring

This isn’t fully an option just yet, tbh, but it will be soon! You can be involved in the peer mentoring program either as a mentor, or a mentee (a person who has a mentor). Mentors will be a few years or grades older than the mentee and will be someone who can offer advice, share their experiences and provide the mentee with support and encouragement.

That’s a brief overview of some of the things we offer at UpStreet. Do you have ideas about other things you’d like us to do? We’re open to suggestions so hop on the chat or send us a message and let us know!
