Benefits of Deep Breathing

Deep breathing is one of the best exercises to relax because you are sending a message to the brain to calm down and then to the body to feel relaxed. Breathing deeply clears out negative or confused feelings, releases carbon dioxide, increases oxygen supply, and improves blood quality. When you are feeling afraid, nervous, stressed or in pain, breathe deeply and purposefully, and try to visualize those tensions getting released as you breathe out.

Physical & emotional benefits of deep breathing exercises:

  • Releases 70% of toxins simply by breathing properly.
  • Relieves emotional distress.
  • Improves your blood.
  • Releases tension.
  • Eases your pain.
  • Elevates your mood, and increases pleasure-inducing chemicals in your body.

How to properly breath to feel relaxed

  • Count to 5. Inhale through your nose, expand your belly and feel your body being filled with healing energy.
  • Hold and count to 3. Feel the healing energy cycle through your body.
  • Exhale completely with a slightly open mouth, envision the toxins and negativities leaving your body count to 5.
  • Repeat until you are completely relaxed.

Deep breathing is one of the best ways to get your mind relaxed and free from tensions. Therefore, use it- and you’ll feel better.

Relying on Supportive Family to Manage Stress

You may find yourself at a low point in life. Sometimes accomplishing things on your list can feel overwhelming; you can find yourself thinking about them over and over. When you feel like this, there is no reason to feel ashamed–this happens to a lot of people! Experiencing the ups and downs of life can help you become a stronger person, but it’s important that you seek help when you feel overwhelmed. For me, this is where my family becomes extremely important–and if you have a supportive family, you should use moments like this to rely on them. Here are just a few of the ways you can rely on a supportive family to help you during stressful times.

Get their advice

The best advice always comes from the one who loves you the most. I personally have a rule that I always follow, which is that my mom and my sister are my best friends. They are the people that will never betray me or tell my secrets to someone else. Even more than my closest friends, who I often trust, I always know my family will be there for me.

Do activities with your family

Another way your family can help you when life is overwhelming is by distracting you with a fun or relaxing activity. Go for a walk with your sibling or your parents. Talk about something else, do something you like, an activity you and a member of your family share together. Go somewhere with them to get a change of scenery.

Talk with your family about it

You can also just talk to your family members about what’s going on. Sometimes, I feel overwhelmed because of school, sport, and work. Since I’m so meticulous and like to get everything perfectly done, which doesn’t always happen, I often go to either mom or dad, hug them, talk to them about it, and cry. I always feel so good after; I feel released and free.

Practice a hobby with your family

If you and your family members have hobbies or artistic things you like to do together, that can also help you take your mind off of things. My siblings and I all share drawing skills, so sometimes we paint, draw or even dance like crazy just to get things off our mind.

Remedies are not always hard to find; you just have to look for them in the simplest things. For me, that remedy is my family. If you also have a supportive family, they can boost you for success, calm you down, help you get over whatever is bothering you, and encourage you to be the best version of yourself.
